Partnered with several community based organization to create TechVillages to provide Hurricane Katrina Evacuees access to technology for job searches and communication. Collaborated with Alabama Department of Labor(Alaworks) and City of Birmingham to help displaced evacuees train for employment.

Empowerment Inc partnered with the City of Greensboro Alabama, to implement a first of its kind community computer lab named the John E. Owens Technology Center.

 

Collaborated with Beauty Bunglow to provide a full-service division focusing on the needs of Victims of Domestic Violence and women who are displaced.  Provided women with services ranging from pro bono legal aid, employment counseling, emergency shelter, clothing needs, and computer training.

 

 

Collaborated with Charter Media with new concept for Kids event in the Birmingham area and established protocols for a music festival in the Hoover Alabama area.

CURRENT

"2014 Steel City Jazz Festival"

Empowerment Inc. is pleased to announce the 2014 Steel City Jazz Festival to be held at Linn Park on June 5-7, 2014. Over 25 national smooth jazz artists will perform at this historical event for the city of Birmingham. This multi-day event is projected to attract numerous jazz enthusiasts from all around the country.

2013-2014

Funding donated for this first annual festival will secure the talent, fund promotional campaign, and handle immediate operational expenses prior to the event as well at seeing to this being an success in its entirety.

 

Prerequisites contributing to the success of the project are imperative and immediate attention is needed. Along with current needs, we have budget breakdowns of the event coordination that requires funding such as Recruiters, Consultants, Development Director, Chief Financial Officer, Financial Assistant, Program Director, Program Director, Construction Manager, law enforcement, Executive Assistant, Clerical Assistant, Facility Manager, Human Resources Director, Advertising Assistant, Marketing Assistant, Project Coordinator, Food Preparation Workers and Maintenance Workers. Some of the Jazz Artist that have deadlines for securing availability for event include, Ken Ford, Kenny G, Boney James, Lalah Hathaway,Will Downing Joe Sample, Michael McDonald, Jazz In Pink, Maysa, Rachelle Ferrell, Jonathan Butler, Fourplay, Najee, Brian Culbertson, Southern Gentlemen, Norman Brown,Bobby Caldwell, Greg Karukas, Sax Pack, Kirk Whalum, Nick Colionne, Jessy J,War, Average White band,Gato Barbieri, BWB, local artist and talent/contest winners!


Your generous donations will be rewarded by acknowledging you in our official Steel City Jazz 2014 program thats delivered to thousands of people at the events, letters of recognition and certificate of appreciation, tickets and tours to events and art museums and more!

2002-2003

Since 2000 until present Empowerment, Inc. coaches AAU Basketball programs with inner city young men from the surrounding Birmingham High Schools while providing young men with the opportunity to compete against other teams in the northeast and southeast where they could have the opportunity to be recognized and receive scholarships by various colleges and universities.
